For the second year in a row, The Craft Beer Attorney Coalition (CBAC) will be attending the 2017 Craft Brewers Conference (Booth #1452) taking place in Washington, D.C. April 11-13, 2017. Attendees of the conference can sign up for one-on-one sessions for craft beer specific legal needs with the members of the coalition during all three days of the conference. CBAC is a member based, non-profit organization founded to advance the professionalism of the craft beer industry’s legal representatives. The organization’s members dedicate themselves to the legal world of craft beer through a commitment to industry-specific educational training and pro bono community services for both established breweries and breweries-in-planning nationwide.

CBAC was formed in late 2015 and in fact publicly debuted at the 2016 Craft Brewers Conference in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania last May. At that event, three of its founding members, Candace L. Moon, Esq. (of The Craft Beer Attorney, APC – the California and Colorado member), D. Taylor Harper, Esq (Taylor, Feil, Lumsden, Hess – Georgia member), and Brook Bristow (Bristow Beverage Law – South Carolina member) answered a variety of questions at the BrewExpo regarding the intricacies of legally operating a brewery. As of the first quarter of 2017, the coalition membership has already doubled for a total of eight members covering nine states (California, Colorado, Georgia, Minnesota, Mississippi, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, and Texas). CBAC’s mission is to be able to offer industry specific education and representation through qualified legal representatives in all fifty states.

In other news, Minnesota member, Jeffrey O’Brien, Esq. will be coauthoring Brew Law 101: A Legal Guide to Opening a Craft Brewery – Minnesota Editionalong with Candace L. Moon, Esq. and Stacy Allura Hostetter, Esq, both of California member -The Craft Beer Attorney, APC. This book will be a continuation of Ms. Moon and Ms. Hostetter’s original, California edition, Brew Law 101, which was published in 2015.
